The Studio – Policies & Procedures 2017 – 2018

Registration: A non-refundable fee of $25 per student is required yearly at time of registration. Family rate of three or more students $55.

Payment of Fees: Tuition can be paid by an automatic payment (with a bank account, debit card, or credit card), a set of post-dated checks, or paid in Full at registration. All late payments, returned checks or declined payments will be charged a $25 fee. In addition a late fee of $10 will be collected when a tuition payment is not paid by the 10th of every month, including returned credit card, voided checks, and posted dated checks. Please plan accordingly as the 1st still applies if it falls on weekends and holidays.

Payment by Automatic Bank Account Debit or Automatic Credit Card Charge: Tuition will be debited from your bank account on the 1st day of each month from September-May or charged to your credit card the 1st day of each month. Depending on your credit institution, it may take a few days for payment to be posted to your account. Credit card or bank debit payments are not accepted for in-person payment on a monthly basis. Payment must be made by pre-authorized automatic monthly payment. Only regular monthly fees may be paid by auto-debit or credit card. Incidental fees such as recital tickets, costume fees, registration fees must be paid by check or cash.

Payment by Post-Dated Checks: Tuition must be paid by a series of postdated checks dated for the first day of each month (e.g.: Sept. 1, Oct. 1, etc.) or to pay in full by semester two checks post dated for the first day of each semester (e.g.: Aug. 20, Jan. 1). Checks should be made payable to The Studio. All checks must be received upon registration to confirm lesson time. Confirmation of lessons will not be final without receipt of all post-dated checks. Failure to provide all the postdated checks will result in an extra fee of $10 per month. All “Non-Sufficient Funds” checks will be charged a $25 NSF fee. The month of September is non-refundable. If paying with Post-Dated Checks, your $25 registration fee is waved.

Payment in Full: Tuition must be paid in full for the semester or the entire school year. Tuition may be paid with cash, check, credit or debit card, or taken from a bank account. If tuition is paid in full for the semester or year, the registration fee will be voided.

2017-2018 Billing Schedule:
All payments will be billed on the first of each month with the exception of August which will occur on the 14th for 1/2 tuition. 3/4 tuition billed in March because The Studio will be closed 1 week for Spring Break.

August billing: August 14th-26th
September billing: August 28th-September 23rd
October billing: September 25th-October 21st
November billing: October 23rd-November 18th
December billing: November 27th-December 23rd

January billing: January 8th-February 3rd
February billing: February 5th-March 3rd
March billing: March 5th-March 31st (3 weeks billed due to spring break)
April billing: April 2nd- April 28th
May billing: April 30th -May 26th

Withdrawal and Refunds: One-month notice is required to discontinue any classes. Withdrawal must be done in person and will not be accepted over the phone. Withdrawal must be done through studio administration and not through the teacher. No withdrawals will be accepted after March 31st. To withdraw from classes a parent or adult student must:

  •  Inform studio administration in person, and
  • Complete and sign a withdrawal form provided by the studio office.

 

All unprocessed checks, dated after the one-month notice period, will be returned. All automatic bank debiting or credit card charges will stop after the four week notice period. The Studio Loveland and The Studio Fort Collins reserve the right to terminate lessons to any students without notice. In such a case a refund for unused lessons will be given.

Extreme Weather or Unexpected Interruption of Classes: If the Studio must cancel classes due to extreme weather or events beyond our control such as power outages, the missed lessons will be added on to the end of the teaching year at the discretion of The Studio. No refunds for lessons missed due to these reasons will be given. In the event this occurs, we will post on our, Facebook page, our Studio Website and also send an email by 2:30 p.m. that day.

Substitutions: The Studio reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher if the regularly scheduled teacher is ill or otherwise unable to teach classes. In the very rare case a teacher is ill and the studio cannot arrange a substitute, any missed classes will be made up.

Dress Code: Required dance wear and dance shoes must be worn to all classes. Failure to wear required dance wear to class could result in students being asked to sit out the class. Students are not permitted to wear jeans or shoes worn on the street or outdoors, to any dance class. For safety reasons dancers are not permitted to wear jewelry. Long hair must
be tied back and a proper ballet bun must be secured for every ballet class. Please refer to the Dress Code Guidelines for detailed information.

Attendance and Lateness: The Studio reserves the right to have students who come 10 min. late or later to class, sit out the class. Repeated lateness may result in termination of lessons. A minimum attendance level will be required. If a student misses more than 4 classes without written notices, The Studio reserves the right to terminate lessons. Students missing 4 or more classes after January will not be allowed to participate in the year-end dance recital, festivals or competitions unless a private is taken with the teacher.

Parent’s Responsibility to be Aware of Dates and Events: It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of all studio activities, such as viewing days, recitals, extra classes, and dates the school is open or closed. The school will post all such notices on the dance “The News” board, on the website, email, as well as sending notices home with the students. It is the parent’s responsibility to regularly check these boards to ensure they are informed. It is the responsibility of the parents or adult students to inform the school of any address or telephone number change.

Care of Students: The Studio is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students. Parents with students in Tots and Level 1 are to remain in the building during classes (camps excluded). Students are not to be left at the studio for excessive time before, after or between classes.

Injuries: Parents, legal guardians of minor students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal dance activity or any other activity conducted by the students before, during or after class time.

Costumes for Recital: Participation in all recitals is optional. Fees for recital costumes are $65.00 and due by October 27th and $80.00 after the due date. All costume fees must be paid with check or cash. Costumes are non-refundable. The Studio will provide a complimentary seamstress day for any costume that needs alterations.

Photo Release: The Studio is hereby granted permission to take photographs of the students to use in brochures, web sites, posters, advertisements and other promotional materials. Permission is also hereby granted for the school to copyright such photographs in its name.

Miscellaneous: Parents and adult students are to be aware that The Studio promotes healthy body image among the students. As such we approve if our teachers snack during the course of the teaching day. Parents are to be aware that dancing as a profession is physically demanding and proper body care is essential.

Dress Code Guidelines 2017-2018

Aerial Classes

  • Atire – Students must be fully covered to avoid fabric burn. A long sleeved shirt and leggings or tights are recommended (Armpits, knees, and elbows must be covered).
    No loose clothing.
  • Shoes – Bare Feet
  • Hair – All hair must be neatly pulled back into a bun or ponytail. No excess clips or bands.

 

Ballet / Tap Classes

  • Atire (Girls) – Any solid color leotard, pink tights, and no underwear under tights.
  • Atire (Boys) – White shirt, Black dance pants.
  • Shoes (Girls) – Pink ballet shoes and Mary Jane tap shoes.
  • Shoes (Boys) –  Black Ballet Shoes and Mary Jane tap shoes.
  • Hair – All hair must be neatly pulled back into a proper bun, no excess clips.  (Visit our website to watch a video on how to make a proper bun.)
  • Optional – Skirt/Tutu.

 

All Ballet Classes

  • Atire (Girls) – Any solid color leotard, pink tights, and no underwear under tights.
  • Atire (Boys) – White shirt and black dance pants.
  • Shoes (Girls) – Proper ballet slippers. Split- sole shoes for dancers en pointe only.
  • Shoes (Boys) – Black Ballet Shoes
  • Hair – All hair must be neatly pulled back into a proper bun, no excess clips. (Visit our website to watch a video on how to make a proper bun.)
  • Optional – Ballet Skirt- No Tutu,  Tight ballet shorts with 5 inch inseam, Ballet sweaters and leg warmers when needed.

 

All Pointe Classes

  • Atire – Black leotard and pink convertible tights
  • Shoes – Proper ballet shoes – Healthy pointe shoes (not over broken!)
  • Hair – All hair must be neatly pulled back into a proper bun, no excess clips.  (Visit our website to watch a video on how to make a proper bun.)
  • Optional – Tight ballet shorts with 5 inch inseam. Ballet skirt (must be short enough to see knee placement.)

 

All Jazz Classes

  • Atire (Girls) – Any solid color leotard and black pants.
  • Atire (Boys) – White shirt and black dance pants.
  • Shoes – Proper jazz shoes or paws.
  • Hair – All hair must be neatly pulled back into a bun or ponytail. No excess clips or bands.
  • Optional – Booty shorts for Teen Jazz only (must have 5 inch inseam.)

 

Hip Hop Classes

  • Atire – Comfortable baggy clothing. Pants must cover knees (no jeans.)
  • Shoes – Sneakers reserved for Hip Hop Class ONLY! (To be worn only at The Studio)
  • Hair – Hair pulled out of face, long hair in a ponytail.

 

Musical Theater

  • Atire (Girls) – Any solid color leotard and black pants or booty shorts.
  • Atire (Boys) – White shirt and black dance pants.
  • Shoes – Jazz Shoes
  • Hair – All hair must be neatly pulled back into a bun or ponytail. No excess clips or bands.

 

Tap Classes

  • Atire – Comfy Baggy Closing (no jeans.)
  • Shoes – Proper Tap shoes (Mary Jane Shoes for combo classes only.)
  • Hair – Hair pulled out of face, long hair in a ponytail.

 

Modern Contemporary & Worship Lyrical Classes

  • Atire – Solid Color leotard and tights (convertible or footless only.)
  • Shoes –  Bare feet or paws.
  • Hair –  All hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or pigtails or bun.
  • Optional – Tight pants or booty shorts with 5 inch inseam over tights.

 

Adult Classes

  • Atire – Comfortable dance clothing.
  • Shoes – Proper shoes for class.

 

All Classes.

  • Please cover your midriff in all classes.
  • Wear warm-ups over dance clothes to and from the studio to keep muscles warm and avoid injury.
  • Street shoes worn outside are not allowed on the dance floor.
  • Please remove all jewelry prior to coming to The Studio.  Only small stud earrings allowed in class.
